The open basket exposes the stones for a stronger löyly which creates a more traditional sauna feel, while the closed basket encloses the stones to create a smoother, more controlled steam and a cleaner, premium look — with the added benefit of extra physical shielding around the stones. Some people prefer the closed basket if they have a family, however, both meet the same EU safety standards.
