About Your Hot Tub As each hot tub is custom made to order, please allow 4–6 weeks for production before dispatch. We'll keep you updated with progress along the way so you always know where things stand. Each unit is fully assembled before leaving the workshop, ensuring it arrives ready to install with no on-site construction required.

Unloading & Positioning As our hot tubs are delivered fully assembled, they cannot be offloaded by hand — unloading and positioning are therefore not included in the standard delivery price.

We can arrange this on your behalf at an additional cost, managing the entire process from start to finish. The right approach will depend on your site layout and where the hot tub is to be installed. Where ground conditions and space allow, a forklift is often the simplest and most economical solution. If the sauna needs to be lifted over a wall or fence close to the road, a HIAB-equipped vehicle offers a neat and cost-effective alternative. For installations set further back from the road or with more restricted access, a mobile crane may be the most appropriate option.

As bespoke goods, they are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2014, and we are therefore unable to accept returns or offer refunds on the basis of a change of mind once production has begun.

02. HOW TO HEAT A POLAR SPA WOOD FIRED HOT TUB?

Most Polar Spa hot tubs reach bathing temperature in around 2–3 hours. To heat the tub, fill it with water and then light a fire in the stove using dry, well-seasoned hardwood. Build the fire gradually and allow the water to heat through natural circulation. Temperature is controlled by adjusting the fire intensity and heating time. A typical heating session uses around 15–25 kg of hardwood, depending on tub size and conditions. Firewood can be sourced from local firewood merchants, garden centres, or online log suppliers. Hardwoods such as oak, ash, or beech provide the best efficiency.

02. HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE WATER BE CHANGED?

Water is typically changed every 1–4 weeks, depending on how often the tub is used and how well it’s maintained. Light or occasional use allows longer intervals, while frequent or group use benefits from more regular changes. When using the tub as a cold plunge, ice will usually need to be added for each session, as it melts during use. However, the water itself does not need to be changed every time ice is added. Cold water tends to stay fresh for longer, particularly when the tub is kept covered and users rinse before entering.

03. WHY ARE THEY SUITABLE FOR BOTH HOT AND COLD PLUNGE USE?

Unlike many electric hot tubs, Polar Spa tubs do not rely on heaters, pumps, or filtration systems that can be affected by cold water temperatures. They are built using a non-porous composite interior and thermowood exterior, both designed to perform reliably across wide temperature ranges.

04. HOW DO I TURN A POLAR SPA HOT TUB INTO A COLD PLUNGE SET-UP?

Fill the tub with cold water and do not light the stove. For colder temperatures, ice can be added as needed. As a general guide, allow around 5–10 kg of ice per person. Larger tubs may require 20–40 kg of ice depending on water volume and desired temperature. Keeping the tub covered between uses helps maintain colder water for longer. There is no active chilling system, so cooling is achieved naturally or with ice.

05. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WOOD FIRED HOT TUB AND AN ELECTRIC ONE?

Wood-fired hot tubs use a natural stove rather than electric heaters, allowing for off-grid use, lower ongoing energy costs, and a more traditional bathing experience. Electric hot tubs offer push-button convenience and precise temperature control but require a permanent power supply and typically have higher running costs.

06. DO I NEED ANY ELECTRICITY FOR A POLAR SPA HOT TUB?

No electricity is required for basic operation. Power is only needed if optional features such as lighting, hydro-jets, or air massage systems are installed.

07. CAN THE HOT TUB BE USED DURING WINTER OR FREEZING TEMPERATURES?

When using the hot tub in freezing temperatures, the water must be drained while it is still warm and only after the stove fire and ash have completely cooled, as allowing water to freeze can damage the stove and pipes. If water has frozen, the stove must not be used—wait for the ice to melt naturally, then fully drain and briefly run the system empty (about 30 seconds); failure to follow these instructions will void the warranty.
