Unlike angled valves, which turn the water flow through 90 degrees, a straight valve maintains the same flow path from the pipe into the radiator inlet. They are a clean, minimal fitting that suit both traditional and contemporary radiators equally well.

When do I need a straight valve rather than an angled one? The key is how your pipework enters the room. Straight valves are the correct choice when pipes rise vertically from the floor and connect directly up into the bottom of the radiator a configuration commonly found with heated towel rails and freestanding column radiators. If your pipes come out horizontally from the wall, you will need angled valves instead.
